New Moon Camping Plus 1-Year Traveling Milestone

Sep 18, 2023 | Brazil, Travel Blog

It is wild to think that I have been on the road traveling for a whole year now.  The time feels like it has gone by so fast, and it seems unbelievable how quickly a year has passed since starting this journey.  I am utterly grateful for the last year and for everyone who has helped support me in any way.  I am thankful for all my opportunities and excited for whatever lies ahead.

I have been here in Chapada Diamantina for almost two months, and exploring around has been amazing.  Last week, I went to Águas Claras, which was magical and super beautiful.  A few nights ago, I went to camp at Poço do Gavião for the new moon, which was my second time camping there and third time hiking the trail.  Wow, seeing the stars over the valley I camped at was incredible, and I enjoyed the whole night with no moon or clouds.  With no cities or towns or anyone around for miles, it was really magical to experience the stunning Milky Way with billions of bright stars and even some fantastic shooting stars.

At the end of this month, I will return to Lençiós and volunteer at one of my favorite hostels for two weeks before returning to my favorite little beach town of Itacaré.  For my volunteer work, I will be creating some promotional videos focusing on nature and hiking trails for an adventure tour agency at the hostel.  I am super grateful and excited that I will finally be getting a camera drone and be able to take aerial footage of my adventures now and as a tool for work – all thanks to an amazing friend, Haner Havshush!  So, hang tight, everyone, for some exciting new things to come!
